COMMUNITY CONSULTATION

A community liaison committee meets regularly with the project team to discuss work currently in progress and provide feedback.

The community liaison committee includes representatives from the following sectors: local governments, emergency services (such as police, fire, ambulance), First Nations, nature and environmental groups, cycling, rafting, commercial trucking, business, tourism, and economic development.

Public Open House
March 4, 2010

A public open house was held at the British Columbia Visitor Centre to display design drawings and construction traffic management plans for upcoming construction of the Golden Hill to West Portal segment of the Kicking Horse Canyon Project. Updates were also provided on recent construction on Phase 3, and on planning activities for Phase 4. You can provide your comments to the webmaster at TRAN.WEBMASTER@gov.bc.ca.

Public Open House
April 15, 2008

A public open house was held at the Visitor Centre @ Golden on April 15, 2008 to display updated designs for improvements to the Trans-Canada Highway and construction plans for two segments of work under Phase 3 of the Kicking Horse Canyon Project. November 29, 2006

A public open house at the Golden Seniors’ Centre on November 29, 2006 provided updates on the construction of Phase 1 (the recently-completed project to build the new Yoho Bridge and approaches) and Phase 2 (new Park Bridge and nearly 6 km of related 4-lane highway construction).  New and updated design concepts for future Phase 3 work were also displayed for information and comment.
